3 cups pounded young rice flakes (pinipig)
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups thickened coconut milk
anise, slightly toasted


Wash pinipig and soak soak in 1 cup coconut milk for 30 minutes. Boil the remaining coconut milk together with the sugar. Once thickened, add the pinipig. Remove from heat. Stir continuously until it thickens further and cools. Place in a container lined with banana leaf. Serve with toasted coconut meat.

Toasted coconut meat:

Mix 1 cup of shredded coconut meat with 2/3 cup of sugar in a pan. Stir continuously until slightly toasted and browned.
